TRANSCRIPT: REPORTER: "If there ever was a media event in Montreal, this was it. Roger Rousseau of C.O.J.O. on a tour with the people from ... INDISTINCT ... the company building the village, and forty or fifty journalists, film cameramen, still photographers--quite an entourage. But may-be the builders have a right to be proud. Just six months ago the village was nothing more than a hole in the ground. There had been all kinds of problems getting started. The Contractors said the work was way behind schedule. But now everything has changed. The pyramids are up, two of them, each twenty floors, each two-hundred feet high. And now there's no doubt the village will be ready on time. According to the developers, construction has come along at a record pace and the village is actually ahead of schedule--ahead by six months. And the people we have to thank? -- well again according to the developers -- we have to thank architects, engineers, sub-contractors and we have to thank the workers of Quebec. Mark Bulgutch, C.B.C. News Montreal."

Background: M. Roger Rousseau, Canadian Olympic Games Organising Committee Chairman on Friday (22 August) showed off the site of the Olympic Village that will be the home for 10,000 athletes during the 1976 Games in Montreal.

Six months ago, where there now stands the almost completed pyramid apartment blocks, there was only a hold in the ground -- and rising alarm from the International Olympic Committee that the Games might not take place in Canada.

The site was bedeviled by industrial disputes over pay and conditions. But since than there has been a remarkable turn-around. And officials say that there is no doubt that the village will be ready for the athletes when they ???arrive for games.

The developers say construction has taken place at a record pace. While the International Olympic Committee says that these responsible for the remarkable work are the construction workers, architects and engineers on the site.
