Background: Israel celebrated Paratrooper's Day yesterday (September 17) with a display in a desert area near Tel-Aviv.
Hundreds of troops took part in the exercise which was watched by students and other spectators.
The display was watched by the Commander of the Paratroop Corps, Tat-Aluf Eitan.
Later last night Israel's Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Haim bar-Lev, said that Israeli paratroops had carried out more than a hundred operations against guerrillas in Arab territory in the twelve months before the cease fire. Only a small proportion of them, he said, had been made public.
