TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 1: AL MADRASSI: "We explained that, in this trip, we could get, after an explanation, we could get the support of these countries, especially Algeria, Syria and Libya. In these three countries, were understood very well, and they promised us all kind of support. The Libyan government and the Algerian government are supporting...who are exporting oil to a very large extent, they promised us to have a unit policy in the coming OPEC conference in Caracas. They promised that, even if in the problem of dollars in their prices, and even their cut-off, they are ready to have one unity, and they are ready to have one policy towards the United States. President Giscard d'Estaing, before our journey to France, in an interview with the French television, he himself said: 'We have to understand the Iranian position, and we should understand the depth of this revolution'. And, naturally, we told them that we look at this revolution, that this is much more important than French revolution. And this is not only an Iranian revolution, but this is the revolution for whole Islamic countries. So we can speak on behalf of all Islamic countries, because all of them, they supported us."

Reuters news agency on Tuesday (11 December) said that Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, had told the New York times he criticised the holding of hostages at the United States embassy in Teheran because the action damaged the reputation of Islam. Colonel Gaddafi was also quoted as speaking of a less troubled relationship with the United States, and that he was forgetting his earlier threats to cut off Libyan oil exports to the U.S.
