Background: A new horse show arena in Algeria was inaugurated on Wednesday (16 May) with show jumping competitions between teams from Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. The new grounds, the "Complexe Hippique", were built by the Algerian National Army.
Before the competition started, the new complex was officially opened by President Houari Boumedienne in a ribbon cutting ceremony. The first Inter Mahgreb show jumping competition runs until the twentieth of May.
About thirty riders from the three countries competed in the event. Before competition began, the three teams took part in an opening ceremony in the stadium. High ranking military officers competed in the four day event. They included Lieutenant Colonel A. Kadeoui of the Moroccan armed forces.
