TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 2: Reporter: "Are you fully in control of the situation? Have the Communists been fully routed?
President Nimeiry: (reply in arabic)
Interpreter: I would like to assure you first that the power is not in the hands of an individual. It is in the hands of the people, the masses of the sudanese people and that during the three days of the abortive coup, I had the feeling that the power was still in the hands of the masses of our people, and that it was something that we were sure would be over.
Reporter: why do you feel so strongly on this issue of communists?
President Nimeiry; (reply in Arabic)
Interpreter: We are by nature against any things (pause) any theories (indistinct) that are enforced to us from our side. We do not only hate communists because there was another party that was called the moslem brothers and it is (indistinct) the theories and the principals of islam and distort them. But the sudanese people have rejected this party in the same way that they rejected the communist party."
