Background: In pouring rain on July 28 four Westland "Whirlwind" helicopters landed at the Westland Heliport - beside the Thames and near the centre of London. It was the first time four helicopters had landed in a group at the Heliport.
They were on a delivery flight to the Austrian Air Force from the Westland Works at Yeovil, Somerset. Among those at the Heliport while the "Whirlwinds" refuelled and customs formalities were carried out was Col. Gustav Hauck, chief helicopter pilot of the Austrian Air Force.
After take-off, the four helicopters flew away over the roofs of London towards distant Vienna.
