Background: Kuwait defeated Hongkong 3-1 in the second round of the World Cup Asian Qualifying match at the Hongkong Stadium on Sunday.
Some 25,000 Hongkong fans cheered and in jubilant mood when Hongkong team opened the scoring in the ninth minute as the centre-forward Chung Chor-wai dashed past Kuwait's Bo-Abbas to break free and flick the ball which bounced off the goalkeeper Al-Taraboulsi's body and rolled into the net.
Hongkong were impressive with some of their approach work in the first half but Kuwait were right in the game and the equaliser came in the 34th minute.
Kuwait's Al-Saleh started the move by popping the ball to the left. Jesein Salian's header then put the ball back to the middle to Faisal Al-Dakhul who smashed home a first-timer.
Kuwait kept their cool, which was their significant strong point. They began to pick things up confidently as Hongkong gradually faded.
They scored again in the 52nd minute as a result of a fine move which saw Al-Dakhul giving Salian the chance to put the ball home.
Hongkong made two chances after the 64th minute but Kuwait sealed the game in the 73rd minute when Salian raced past Hongkong's Sun-cheung before letting Hammad Bo-Hamad sweep home comfortably.
Kuwait will meet South Korea is Seoul on October 10.
