TRANSCRIPT: PATTERSON:"The four twisters cut through this area just before seven last night chopping an awesome corridor of destruction as they travelled through the farm village of Oxford Centre. Winds at well over a hundred miles an hour (160 kilometres per hour) devastated everything in their path. The effects of the howling storm were worst here, where more than forty homes and barns were levelled. The body of one of three people killed was found badly mutilated in what was left of a farmhouse. Entire buildings, roofs, cars and farm implements were hurled hundreds of feet by the hurricane force winds.
"Hundreds of farm animals were killed. One farmer said he had lost an entire herd and that he couldn't find the carcasses. Hundreds of injured animals will have to be destroyed.
"Of the hundred and thirty people hospitalised, thirty remain with a wide variety of injuries.
"In the city of Wookstock damage occurred along a mile-wide spread. Again roofs were ripped from homes.
"Most objects were no match for the cruel forces of nature.
"As in neighbouring Oxford Centre trucks and cars were flung about like toys. Emergency insurance claim centres have been established for the expected flood of claimants and area residents are quick to agree that in light of the near total destruction it was a miracle that there were so few deaths and injuries."
