This is the first time Soviet army laid such a story on for a west cameraman: The son Sergeant Wassili Wasin (2) whose father died as a hero of the Soviet Union by putting up the Red Flag on top of the Reichstag building on 23.April 1945 (father Corporal Wasin) laid a wreath under the name of his father on the memorial and went onto guard as honour besides the wreath. Wasin came together with his wife Galina Michailovna Wasin and his unit commander before the official wreath laying ceremony. The Wasins are stationed in East Germany since 6 years they have a daughter of 10 month.
