SHARRIF: "The only settlement which is acceptable by the PFLP is that based on bringing the population in Palestine -- whether Jewish or Arab -- the same equal rights. And I think a practical solution will not be achieved except on a basis of establishing a democratic socialist state in Palestine. The PFLP is in a struggle together with progressive Jews in Palestine...to establish such a state. But to get equal rights with no regard to difference in religion or race is a basis for a just and lasting settlement. I think that the Israelis through the present tactic, which is the tactic of attacking Lebanese villagers...terrorising them...are escalating the situation to a very dangerous sport in which under such a situation our forces are forced to deal back strikes to the fascists and Israelis."
