Background: Australian stuntman Frank Lennon had a lucky escape from death in Sydney recently when his human-torch act went wrong.Mr Lennon was meant to be towed behind a car through a tunnel of fire. But the tow rope burnt through, leaving him stranded in the flames. Lenon managed to get clear, but suffered severe burns.

SYNOPSIS: Mr Lennon's act took place at a stock car meeting. The idea was to tow him on his back through a wall of flame, 200 metres (218 yards) long. But when the tow car emerged, trailing a burning rope, spectators realised the stunt had gone horribly wrong.

Doctors who examined the stuntman later in hospital found he had suffered second and three degree burns to a quarter of his body. Though only 26-year old, he is now considering retirement.
