Background: The Henley Regatta course near St. Catherines, Ontario. Here, the University of British Columbia crew takes to the water for the competition that will decide Canada's sculling entry in next month's British Empire Games. They're being held in Wales.
Six Clubs are competing in the regatta. Besides the Vancouver team, they come from Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton and St. Catherines. Even without their regular stroke, the UBC eight streaked to an eight length victory; cut seven point six seconds off the record in perfect, windless weather.
To the winning coxswain, the traditional spoils. Like the eight, the UBC four outpaced the other teams with a five length win, Along with the UBC crew, the Canadian team in Wales will also include the regatta's singles and doubles champions, from Ottawa and Toronto.
