Background: The Commonwealth Featherweight Boxing champion, David Poison, easily beat Jimmy Ellis of the Ivory Coast by a knockout in the second round of a scheduled eight round fight in Ghana on Friday (7 February).
The solid Poison (whose real name is David Kotei) kept up almost non-stop pressure. Ellis, very much thinner than the Ghanaian, kept moving backwards skipping out of the way and dodging on the ropes until felled by a hard right to the side of the head.
The fight was viewed with special interest in Ghana as it's a run-up for poison's title attempt against World Featherweight champion Bobby Chacon of the United States.
