Background: Cheering crowds lined the streets of Antwerp, November 8, for the visit of Prince Albert and Princess Paola. The royal couple were making their first official visit since they were married last July, and one of their first engagements for the day was at the statue of King Albert.
Here, Prince Albert laid a wreath at the memorial to his grandfather, who was killed in an accident in 1934.
Afterwards, the Prince and Princess drove through the city to the Palais des Fetes where were received by the Governor of Antwerp Province. Before continuing their visit, they attended a concert given by Antwerp's symphony orchestra.
