Background: In Tunisia, President Habib Bourguiba has appointed an interim Prime Minister to co-ordinate government activity during the illness of Prime Minister, Mr. Hedi Nouira, who has had a stroke.

SYNOPSIS: Mr. Mohammed Mzali, until recently Minister of Education, is the man who has been chosen to take on the task. He posed recently for photographers with his family around him. In Washington, it was announced recently that the Carter administration has begun supplying arms to Tunisia in an effort to help President Bourguiba to respond to pressures from neighbouring Libya. Tunisia will get thirty armed personnel carriers and six military helicopters. This is the first time the United States has supplied heavy arms to a North African country. Ten of the personnel carriers have already been airlifted. The rest will arrive by sea.
