Background: Security guards and patrols were reinforced in Istanbul and Ankara yesterday (Sunday) following the outbreak of renewed bomb attacks. Security precautions have been strictly enforced since the Army ultimatum delivered to the Government on 12 March.

The most serious of the latest bomb attacks was on the Ankara home of Lieutenant-General Atif Ercikan, Planning Chief of the Turkish General Staff.

The new Prime Minister, Dr Nihat Erim, who took over after the resignation of Mr Suleyman Demirel, promised a week ago to take stern measures to suppress political violence.

This film, shot in Istanbul, shows two aspects of the security precautions, guards at key domestic installations, like the Istanbul Radio building, and guards at United States-owned properties such as the Hilton Hotel and Pan Am offices.
