    Background: 21 students of Seoul University, Seoul, Korea were arrested by the Armed forces of the revolutionary army headquarters in Seoul and the Seoul Police Department when 1,000 students of Seoul University tried to start a demonstration in succession to June 6th's demonstration at the campus of the Seoul University today (June 8).

    The large body of students that tried to march on the American Embassy carried a placard /" We demand early conclusion of a status of forces agreement between South Korea and the United States".

    The cause of the trouble was two Korean youngmen were beaten by U.S. officers when Korea youth tried to climb up the fence of U.S. camp in Seoul and according to Korean side, this kind of event happened so often and Korean people are very angry and mad about it.

    Although the demonstration was prohibited by the order of JUNTA, revolutionary Army, these students can not help standing with U.S. officer's attitude toward Koreans.

    ROK leaders were reported to sympathize with this Rally and General Park Chung Hee said more than understood the motive of the demonstrating students.

    Today, the students demanded the National Police Department of Seoul to release more than 100 students, seized by them in the wake of the demonstration held on June 6th. They are still in the custody of the National Police as a result of a short-lived demonstration defying a strict ban on street demonstration under martial law.
