Background: The Thai Prime Minster, Mr. Kukrit Pramoj, arrived in Singapore last night (Thursday) from Manila for a four-day official visit and talks expected to include a review of his recent visit to Peking.
He was met at the airport by Singapore Prime Minster Lee Kuan Yew, members of his cabinet and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
Talks between the two prime minsters, beginning this afternoon, are expected to centre on developments within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Singapore and Indonesia are the only ASEAN members who have not established diplomatic links with the People's Republic of China, although Singapore has trade ties with Peking.
Developments in the region since the communist takeovers in Indochina are considered likely to be the general them of discussions between the two prime minsters.
Before leaving Manila, Mr. Kukrit said Thailand hoped to invite Cambodia and the two Vietnams to join ASEAN.
