Background: A South African stuntman on June 5 became the first man to crash a car through three buses. Vic Conradie performed the event in an unmodified Jaguar XJ6. A festive crowd gathered to watch the attempt at a pleasure resort about 60 kilometres (37 mile) east of Johannesburg. Among them was his fiance, Isle Louw. Before the event , Vic Conradie told Visnews' Louis Breytenbach he was determined to succeed on this attempt, his third. An atmosphere of excitement settled on the crowd as the stuntman practised ducking below the dashboard to avoid injury. Then he sped towards the buses, hurtled up a ramp at 160 kilometres per hour ( 99 miles per hour) and crashed through the buses like a bullet. The car came to rest after smashing into parked vehicles 50 metres (54 yards) away. As team workers pulled Conradie from his wrecked Jaguar, there was blood on his lips and he seemed to be in pain. But a medical examination revealed he had no serious injuries.
