Background: A British pop group called Capricorn and a Jamaican composer-singer, Ernie Smith, have won the top awards at a world song festival in Japan.

They both tied for first place in the festival....the third to be held in Japan.

The group Capricorn received a 4,000 dollars (GBP1,500 sterling) award for their song entitled "Feeling", while Smith won a similar prize for his song "Life is Just For Living".

Thirty-seven countries took part in the three-day festival. Awards were made by Mr Gerichi Kawakami, President of Yamaha, which sponsored the festival.
