Background: A British pop group called Capricorn and a Jamaican composer-singer, Ernie Smith, have won the top awards at a world song festival in Japan.
They both tied for first place in the festival....the third to be held in Japan.
The group Capricorn received a 4,000 dollars (GBP1,500 sterling) award for their song entitled "Feeling", while Smith won a similar prize for his song "Life is Just For Living".
Thirty-seven countries took part in the three-day festival. Awards were made by Mr Gerichi Kawakami, President of Yamaha, which sponsored the festival.
An Australian composer, Brian Cadd, won the prize for outstanding composition with his song "Don't You Know It's Magic," sung by Australian singer Johnny Farnham.
