Background: The Sudan is among thirteen countries which have threatened to withdraw from the Munich Olympic Games if Rhodesian athletes compete.
The Sudanese Sports Minister, Salah Abdelal, said on Wednesday (August 16) that Sudan was committed to a unified African stand.
If Sudan does withdraw, the soccer players in the Olympic team of 33 will be sorely disappointed.
They played hard to become one of the three African nations among the sixteen which qualified to compete in the Games. Although the event is almost certain to be won by a team from East Europe, the Sudanese hope to make a good showing if they compete.
