Background: The King has inaugurated today the first Blast Furnace of Greece which will produce iron and steel directly out of iron ore of the greek soil.The 35.000.000 -million-dollar worth Blast Furnace will produce some 300.000 tons of steel, which, means a 40-million-dollar economy on foreign currency.The inauguration of this Steel Plant opens another way to the Greek Industry.This is the second heavy unit after the Hellenic Shipyards and their 100.000-ton dry dock.The machinery and construction in general has been made possible thanks to the help of British, German and American engineers and machineries.After the usual blessing of the Plant by an Orthodox priest, the King lit the furnace.
