Background: The Swies skier, Walter Steiner, won the International Anniversary Ski-Jumping Championship at the Yugoslavian resort of Planica on Sunday (17 March).
Steiner won with a total of 533.5 points. He took the lead with 354 points after the first two days.
Second was Esko Rauttionaho from Finland with 485.5 points,; and third was Dag Fosum from Norway. Tom Dargay of the U.S.A. is shown on film falling during his final jump.
About 55,000 spectators watched the final day of the anniversary championship, which marked 40 years of ski-jumping at Planica. The first World Championships in ski-jumping were held there two years ago.
Planica was chosen partly because the ski run allows the longest jumps in the world.
