    THE THREE DAY CRICKET MATCH BETWEEN THE ENGLISH COUNTY CHAMPIONS, WORCESTER AND THE TOURING NEW ZEALANDERS ENDED IN A DRAW TODAY (FRIDAY). NEW ZEALAND'S CAPTAIN JOHN REID DECLARED THEIR SECOND INNING CLOSED WHEN THE SCORE HAD REACHED 160 FOR 5 WICKETS. THIS LEFT WORCESTER THE TASK OF SCORING 166 RUNS IN 100 MINUTES TO WIN THE MATCH. WHEN STUMPS WERE DRAWN THEY HAD SCORED 56 FOR THE LOSS OF ONE WICKET.

    CHANCES OF A DECISION IN THE MATCH DWINDLED DURING THE DAY AS RAIN HELD UP PLAY. IN ALL 65 MINUTES WERE LOST DUE TO THE WEATHER.

    THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE NEW ZEALANDER SECOND INNINGS WAS SUTCLIFFE'S STAND AT THE WICKET. AT 41, HE IS THE ELDEST PLAYER IN THE TOURING SIDE. WHEN JOHN REID DECLARED SOON AFTER TEA, SUTCLIFFE HAD SCORED 46 NOT OUT. SUTCLIFFE'S STAND WAS MARKED BY SWEEP SHOTS TO THE BOUNDARY, AND SKILFULLY PLACED SINGLES.

    THE ONLY WICKET CAPTURED BY THE NEW ZEALANDERS IN WORCESTER'S SECOND INNINGS WAS THAT OF THE CAPTAIN, D.J. KENYON. HE WAS CAUGHT BY CONGDON OFF THE BOWLING OF MOTZ.
