Background: Tanzania was chosen as the venue of the meeting of the International Trade Unions Committee for the Solidarity with the Workers and the People of South Africa.
Delegations from about 12 counties from Africa, Europe (Eastern) and Latin America were represented at the meeting.
Mr. Kamaliza, the secretary-general of NUTA and the former Minister of Labour was elected as the Chairman of the Meeting.
The secretary of the World Federation of Trade Unions, Mr. Ibrahim Zakaria said that today's meeting will review past activities of the committee and advance new proposals for setting up campaigns for the solidarity with the workers and peoples of South Africa. He also thanked the government of Tanzania for allowing the I.T.U.C. to hold it's meeting in Dar.
The meeting will continue till 26th April.
