    Background: The three-day programme marking the 127th anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh began in Lahore with 168 Sikh pilgrims from India and Afghanistan participating in the ceremonies.

    The Indian contingent of 143 pilgrims is led by Giani Mohinder Singh, Secretary of the Shromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

    The pilgrims, who included some women and children are being looked after by the District authorities and the leader of the party has expressed his fullest satisfaction at the arrangements made for the pilgrims' board and lodging.
