Background: Representatives of the Greek and Turkish Press met yesterday at the "Hotel des Roses" of Rhodes Island, for a friendly exchange of views and settling the existing differences between the Press of the two countries. This is another sign of appeasement in the north-east and eastern parts of the Balkans -- after the greco-bulgarian talks of last month. The conversations was sponsored by the International Press Institute of Zurich and was presided over by its director Mr. F.J.B. Rose, assisted by the head of the Research Section of the Institute Mr. Armand Gaspar. Subjects discussed were: a) "The reporting of Greece in the Turkish Press", b) "The development of Greco-Turkish Press relations". The leading journalists of Greece and Turkey attended the conference. This is the first meeting in its kind.
