Background: SYNOPSIS: The organisers for the San Marino grand prix at Imola say the race will go ahead despite a protest boycott by the British teams, who have already pulled their cars out. Imola was to be the first race of the European grand prix season, which has opened under the same shadowy dispute over construction regulations, which has dogged recent seasons. The Ferrari team, which counts Imola as its home track, will race, as will the French Renault team.
It was their protest against Nelson Piquet and Keke Rosberg's cars in Brazil, which now threatens to degrade the future of formula one.
