    Background: The second 'Petit Prix' in West Germany open to cars of up to 700 cc. was raced at the Hockenheim ring, May 17. Petrol economy is an important factor in deciding the winner. After the race the speeds and petrol consumptions are compared and the driver and car with the best overall results is the winner.

    It was a 12 hour race, starting at 5am. Of the 35 starters seven did not finish. The race was over 180 laps. Fiats, Goggomobils, Citroens, Lloyds and BMWs competed.

    Winner was US soldier Rodney Hewitt and Herr Schaufele, in a Lloyd. A Lloyds car was also second.
