Background: President Hafez Al-Assad of Syria has added his support to a call to carry on the fight against the Camp David Agreements between Egypt and Israel.
SYNOPSIS: President Assad was attending the ninth anniversary of the Corrective Movement -- a celebration attended by his ministers and key staff in Damascus on Thursday (15 November). Education Minister Zuhier Masharka made the most stinging attack on the so-called "imperialist zionists" reactionary circle, who've been particularly critical of Syria. Mr. Masharka, a member of the regional leadership of the Baath Arab Socialist Party, said the party and the "wide masses" have determined to carry on their struggle to foil the Camp David agreements.
With a large portrait of the president in the background, Mr. Masharka's comments were loudly acclaimed by fellow members of the government.
The Education Minister went on to say that the National Progressive Front and the popular movements would continue to wage their liberation battles, in an attempt to put an end to what he called "the crimes of the Moslem Brotherhood".
