Background: There were tumultuous and emotional scenes in the village of Halur in Northern India on Sunday (12 April) as Prime Minister Indira Gandhi ??? a ??? (walking tour) of her constituency.
Mrs. Gandhi is the first ever Indian Prime Minister to undertake such a walk. Her main nim was to talk to people from all walks of life to gunge their needs and ideas in relation to the implementation of national policies and her government's 20 point economic programme.
The Shivearh region, where Halur is situated, was recently added to Mrs. Gan ??? cons tunney and as she arrived by helicopter there were emotional ??? from the thousands of villagers who had been congregating since ???.
Despite the blaring sun and dry dusty winds the Prime Minister mingle with the people, giving garlands of flowers to the children and listening as they told her their tales of joy and woe.
Several women in the village were so overjoyed to see her that they knelt at her feet and kissed the ground in front of her in adoration.
At the village school she watched children perform dances and ???.
For the villagers it was one of the greatest days in their lives and for their leader it was the start of what she hopes will be a new era of involvement in the development of India by village people.
