Background: Egyptian President Anwar Sadat on Saturday met the nation's political leaders to explain the terms under which the Soviet Union has pledged continuing military aid to Egypt.

Mr. Sadat addressed the 150-member policy-making Central Committee of the Arab Socialist Union behind closed doors, reporting on his recent talks in Moscow with Soviet leaders. During the talks he secured renewed offers of military support, in return for his assent to a joint declaration condemning 'anti-Soviet' trends within the Arab world.

The scope of Soviet aid to Egypt was looked at more fully in our recent Production No. 12123/71, a compilation from the Visnews Library, serviced on the 16th October.
