Background: Britain's Queen Elizabeth left France on Friday (May 19) after a five-day state visit. She boarded the Royal yacht Britannia at the northern French port of Rouen for the journey home after what was her second official visit to the country--the first time any British monarch has made a return journey to France on a state visit.

The tour was marked by a warm reception from the French people; by a visit to her estranged uncle, the Duke of Windsor, once King Edward VIII; and by a bo??? scare as she toured Rouen before her departure. The scare turned out to be a hoax, but even as she and Prince Philip boarded the Britannia with French Premier Jacques Chaban-Delmas and his wife for a final tea ceremony, a young man climbed on board the yacht up a mooring rope. He was led away by French police.
