Background: The leader of an extremist rightwing organisation, Abu Arz, says he will not hand over arms to a Lebanese Government until the Syrian peace-keeping force and the Palestinians leave his country. This follows remarks from the premier-designate, Dr Selim Al-Hoss, that he hoped his new government would collect heavy weapons from all militia groups. Abu Arz, who heads the 'Guardians of the Cedars' said a weapons handover could only be possible if there was not danger threatening rightists.
