Background: Ghanaians living in Liberia demonstrated last Friday (19 March) against Ghanaian Prime Minister Busia's Government. The demonstrators marched through the capital of Monrovia to present a protest note to the Ghanaian Embassy denouncing the Ghanaian Government's policy of expelling Liberians living in Ghana.
More than six thousand Ghanaians took part in the demonstration.
Meanwhile, there have been mixed reactions to the expulsion ruling in liberia. The Liberian Congress of Industrial Organisation (CIO) has expressed shock at the ruling, and has appealed to the Liberian Government to stand in readiness to dispatch all Ghanaians within its borders by the same ship that will bring the Liberians home. But President Tugman has since promised Ghanaians that the Government will not repatriate any Ghanaians living in Liberia.
