Background: Italy's leading fashion designers revealed their ideas for spring end summer fashions at an international show in Rome on Wednesday (19 January) and the emphasis this year is on the Spanish look.
SYNOPSIS: The show was staged in the Excelsior Hotel and one of the collections displayed was by the veteran Italian designer, Tita Rossi. His day-wear section was aimed at the young and featured loose and floating lines in soft fabrics.
There was a hint of the Caribbean in these dresses, with their distinctive, full skirts.
The large audience saw the influence of Spanish designs in clothes like these, with off-the-shoulder necklines and tiered skirts.
The work of Rocco Barocco was also displayed and he chose bright colours for the coming seasons. Boleros of all sizes covered the blouses in his and other collections, and the models trailed shawls and outsized squares of chiffon silk.
This evening dress was obviously designed with the warm climates in mind. The bold patterns and colours accentuated the Italian showing.
