SEQ. 8: WALDHEIM: (IN FRENCH: TRANSLATION INTO ENGLISH): "Mr Jarring had long conversations with the two state leaders. All Middle Fast problems have been discussed. You already know that the African leaders have made proposals recently and this mater has been the theme of these conversations. Mr Jarring will go back to New York after a visit to Moscow. (Dr Jarring is also Sweden's ambassador to the soviet Union). He is going to Moscow where he will be tomorrow morning because his Foreign Affairs Minister is paying an official visit to the Soviet Union. But he will go back to New York to pursue his efforts, that is to make contacts with the parties concerned in finding a solution to the Middle-East problems".

Background: The United Nations Secretary-General, Dr Kurt Waldheim, met U.N. special Middle-East Envoy Dr Gunnar Jarring in Rome for talks on Saturday (February 5). Dr Waldheim was returning home from the special Security Council meeting on africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which ended its week-long session on Friday (February 4).
Following their meeting in A rome Hotel Dr Waldheim spoke to newsmen. Both events are shown in this film.
