THE COMMUNIQUE CALLED ON THE GREAT POWERS TO CONVERT THEIR ARMS EXPENDITURE INTO AID FOR THE WORLD'S DEVELOPING COUNTRIES.

    THE ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER IS CURRENTLY ON A THREE-WEEK TOUR DURING WHICH HE IS VISITING SEVEN AFRICAN COUNTRIES. THE SECOND DAY OF HIS VISIT TO THE IVORY COAST WAS SPENT IN BOUAKE WHERE HE SAW ISRAELIS HELPING TO TRAIN LOCAL GIRLS IN DOMESTIC SCIENCE. ABOUT 200 ISRAELIS ARE HELPING THE IVORY COASTERS AS PART OF ISRAEL'S AID PROGRAMME WHICH HAS HELPED THE IVORY COAST SET UP SEVERAL ECONOMIC WORKS PROJECTS.

    ON THE LAST DAY OF HIS VISIT, MR. ESHKOL AND PRESIDENT HOUPHOUET-BOIGNY SIGNED A COMMUNIQUE. THE TWO LEADERS CALLED ON THE GREAT POWERS TO INCREASE THEIR AID TO THE DEVELOPING COUNTRIES' ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES, AND TO REDRESS THE GROWING GAP BETWEEN THE DEVELOPED AND THE DEVELOPING STATES.

    THEY REAFFIRMED THEIR SUPPORT FOR THE PEOPLE OF TERRITORIES UNDER FOREIGN DOMINATION IN THEIR STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE AND CONDEMNED ALL FORMS OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION, CALLING ON ALL MEN TO STRIVE FOR ITS ELIMINATION.

    MR ESHKOL IS NOW IN LIBERIA. HE WILL GO ON TO VISIT UGANDA, CONGO (LEOPOLDVILLE) KENYA AND MADAGASCAR.
