TRANSCRIPTION - FRASER
"I feel that I could voice the opinion of New Zealand & the rest of the British Commonwealth, indeed of the world, when I say that we look upon you as the unconquerable isle; that is how we look upon you, the spirit that is shown & the courage & bravery of everybody, the destruction that rains down on you from the skies, has made an impression that can never be erased not only from the minds of the people of the present generation but it can never be erased from history & the history of the struggle for freedom that means so much to the world at the present time."
GV. "Our late Prime Minister, who was honoured & beloved by all the dominion, the Rt. Hon. Martin Joseph Savage, expressed the feeling in New Zealand in eloquent & stirring words when he said, 'I am satisfied that nowhere will the issue be more clearly understood than in New Zealand where for more than a century, behind the sure shield of Britain, we have enjoyed & cherished freedom & self government, both with gratitude for the past & confidence in the future, we range ourselves, without fear, beside Britain: where she goes, we go where she storms, we storm: we are only a small but young nation, but we are one & all a band of brothers & we march forward with a union of heart & a wills to common destiny."
