Mr. Chevenix-Trench is being interviewed about the Eton system - Mr. Chevenix-Trench is asked about the two boys who went home because they were unable to follow the system. Mr. Chevenix-Trench said it was unfair to comment about the statement in the press. He then goes on and explains the system.
The boys discipline is supervised by the House captain who is allowed to beat a boy but only under express permission and control of his House Master. A House Master may also beat a boy this is very exceptional and if the House Master thinks it is beyond his power he brings the boy to me. (The interviewer asks what is the difference in keeping discipline in Eton than other schools) Mr. Chevenix-Trench says the problem is greater than any other school because the boys that are spoil are richer and have more opportunity at home and school.
