Background: South Vietnam concluded its armed forces day celebrations with a parade through Saigon. At the head came boy scouts and other youth groups bearing torches. There followed a line of illuminated floats representing the navy, army and airforces, as well as a number dedicated to civilian relief and development. The Chinese community from the Saigon suburb of Cholon brought out their dragon dancers; military bands and fireworks extended the celebrations late into the night.
