Background: As sporadic fighting continues in Lebanon between Christian Militia and Palestinian forces .....the Rightists have been celebrating Martyr's Days in memory of those who have been killed in conflict.
SYNOPSIS: The town of Ghine in the mountains, east of Jounie and north of Beirut is a Christian Militia stronghold. The Commander of the Christian Militia, Bashir Gemayel was greeted by local leaders of the Militia.
There is always heavy security around Mr. Gemayel ... less than a month ago opponents of the Militia tried to murder him by planting a bomb under his car, in Beirut.
Mr. Gemayel who was speaking at the home of one of the Martyrs who died in recent fighting, appealed to the local Militia men to continue their fight against Palestinian forces. He said that since the signing of the peace treaty between Israel and Egypt, Palestinians had stepped up their guerrilla activities throughout Lebanon.
Bashir Gemayel is held in such high regard in the mountains around Ghine that villagers travelled long distances to hear him speak .....and although many could not enter the house .... his appeals to them to keep fighting had an attentive audience.
