Background: The fifty-million-dollar (U.S.) tunnel between Hong Kong island and Kowloon peninsula has been linked up. Final stages -- panting and plastering -- are in progress, and the tunnel is exported to be opened to the motoring public by September.
The tunnel, nearly a mile long, is the largest construction feat ever undertaken in Hong Kong. It's laid on the bed of the harcur between the island and the mainland, and will be opened by Britain's Princess Alexandra. This film, shot by Visnews' Hong Kong bureau, takes a look at the final stages after the two and of the tunnel were recently linked up.
