Background: A violent explosion ripped through Holland's main explosives factory at Muiden, near amsterdam, on Friday. (8 December) leavening two people dead and 18 injured....six of them seriously.

Many of the inured were struck by flying glass from thousands of windows in nearby buildings and homes shattered by the blast.

The factory was flattened by the explosion which occurred in a room where explosives are dried for the manufacture of bullets.

Police evacuated the area as rescue workers and troops moved in to search for victims.

The blast was the second at the factory in six years. Seventeen people died when an explosion rocked the pant in 1996.

Cause of the latest explosion in not yet known, Experts are puzzled because they say the type of gunpowder being made at the factory should only burn and not explode during production.
