Background: The mighty New Zealand rugby team, the all-blacks, overpowered a game All-Waseda University team, 33-12, today, at Prince Chichibu ground, in the first of their scheduled nine matches in Japan. The Waseda team led 9-8 at half time but fell before furious New Zealand onslaught after the interval. Crown Prince Akihito, Princess Chichibu and Prime Minister Kishi were among the record crowd of 35,000 who turned out in the warm sun to see one of the world's top rugby teams. New Zealand captain, Wilson Whineray described the local team's play as 'unorthodox' and said that Waseda's loose forwards came up with the ball much quicker than in the New Zealand style of play.
