Background: King Mohammed V of Morocco on the last stage of his Mid-East goodwill tour flew from Baghdad to Beirut Feb. 3 for a four-day visit to the Lebanon. At the airport he was greeted by President Fouad Chehab and Prime Minister Karame.

After inspecting a guard of honour, the King and President drove through the Moslem quarter of Beirut, once a strongpoint in the 1958 insurrection.

For the royal visit, Beirut's Government and public buildings are decorated with the flags of the two countries. Illuminations at night add to the festivities - viewed by the Cabinet as a holiday since all Ministers postponed routine engagements until the King leaves Feb. 7.
