Background: King Paul arriving by the destroyer Polemistis unveiled a monument to Greece's Unknown Sailor on Andros Island in the Aegean November 5.
Accompanying the King was Queen Frederika. Bells tolled as they walked from the ship through the streets of Andros fishing village to service at church. After the commemorative service, the King walked with the villagers to the main square to unveil the monument.
Afterwards the Royal couple distributed dowry bank books to girls of poor families - a traditional present from the Royal family which will later help them on the threshold of adult life.
