Background: The City of Sapporo in northern Japan is the venue for the 1972 Winter Olympics. Next week the facilities will receive their first major test when an international sports meeting is held there. Twenty-four nations will compete in the sports using 13 of the 14 Olympic venues. This film shot by Visnews cameraman K. Tanaka shows the changes which the city itself has undergone in order to accommodate the mass influx of competitors, officials and spectators.
