Background: More than three thousand delegates arrived at the new Convention Centre in Manila for the opening of the International Monetary Fund. the President of the Philippines, Mr. Ferdinand Marcos, arrived at the centre with his wife, the Governor of Greater Manila, Mrs. Imelda Marcos.
As President Marcos entered the conference hall the delegates, representing more than 120 nations, gave him a standing ovation.
In his opening address the President told the delegates that a global rebellion of the poor had began to conquer poverty. President Marcos said the meeting in Manila gave the world and historic opportunity to improve the dimension of life for all the people on earth.
President Marcos said the world needed a reformed international order to sustain a steady flow a capital to the developing nations.
