Background: London is the centre of the world market of works of art. VISNEWS June 9 filmed the nineteenth Antique Dealers Fair and Exhibition, opening at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London June 10.
Thousands of antique dealers from all parts of the world annually gather to enjoy and buy these ancient treasures. The antiques on show this year are worth approximately GBP4 million. There is a daily replacement of sold exhibits. and every exhibit offered for sale has been examined by a panel of experts to ensure that it is authentic.
Oldest of these antique of art on show, is a 3,759 year-old Ushabti limestone figure of "The Lady Rennu" dated Egyptian 18th dynasty.
Her Majesty the Queen, and other members of the Royal Family, have lent personal treasures for this exhibition of craftsmanship and beauty from the past.
